Bareaya
Bareaya's story goes against the futility of our consumer society and then specifically disposable razor blades.
French eco-activist Marjorie has been running Bareaya from Hong Kong since 2018 and wants to tackle 2 essential problems of disposable razors: irritation and ingrown hairs. These 2 problems arise from the fact that these razor blades are not made to last. As a result, they are made with low-cost, low-efficiency materials. They try to solve this by combining several blades and creating the effect of multiple shaving movements. However, this ensures that it also pulls your skin loose and causes irritation. In addition, it also ensures that you shave the hair too deeply. Which gives you painful ingrown hairs.
In short: you get a product that will harm both the skin and the environment. So pointless.
“I was really surprised by how many people, especially women, were afraid to take the plunge. They love the idea of a plastic-free, irritation-free, toxin-free razor that will last. But vintage, overly masculine design and aggressive blades make the current market quite intimidating.
So I decided to bring an alternative that is different. One that everyone can use, both women and men. This is where it all started for Bareaya."
