What is blemished skin and why do people get it?
Pimples are a mix of factors that conspire on your skin. The propionibacterium acnes causes inflammation. That bacteria also loves sebum, and when it feeds on it, inflammation escalates and sebum builds up in your pores. Then you also have those dead skin cells that form a blockage on your skin and in your pores, preventing sebum from being removed. That clogs things up and bingo, that's where those pesky pimples come into play.
Do pimples only occur in oily skin?
Absolutely not. Pimples can also be a reaction from dehydrated skin that produces extra sebum. It is therefore very important to determine exactly what type of impure skin you have. We would be happy to help you with this via chat.
How can I best treat impure skin?
A good cleaning routine where you double cleanse with first an oil-based cleanser and then a water-based cleanser. Focus especially on sufficient hydration in your care. Certain serums containing, among other things, Salycilic acid are also must-haves to tackle acne, but please note that this only applies to really oily, impure skin. In addition, applying a moisturizing cream or oil is your last step in restoring your skin and skin barrier.
How can I prevent scars due to blemishes?
By not picking pimples and using sunscreen, you can help prevent acne scars. Use our Pimple Patches from Apricot and use a nourishing oil serum such as that from Maiwé or SuperDuper to accelerate skin recovery.
