First aid for pigment spots: pro-active work is our unpopular opinion. The ultimate tip is prevention is better than cure! Do you already have spots that are starting to appear? Rule n°1: Give it time. At the end of the blog you will find a detailed routine for inspiration.
We can hear you coming: How? Well...
1. Wear sunscreen
The single most important step you can take to prevent pigment spots and prevent them from spreading is to protect your skin from the sun. UV rays activate the pigment in your skin and push it out in packets. This process forms the well-known pigment spots. So use sunscreen daily! Choose a factor 30 or higher for optimal protection, but above all: apply consistently and with constant exposure every 2 hours. Ideally, you go for a mineral filter. This completely blocks your skin from harmful sun rays, so that pigmentation has no chance.
2. Antioxidants
Antioxidants, such as vitamin C, support and strengthen the effect of sun protection. There is even a link between a low antioxidant level in the body and the prevention of pigment spots. A good reason to put them on the menu more often. Eat enough vegetables and fruit such as broccoli, spinach, strawberries and raspberries and add High Tech AOX to this list, especially in the summer months.
3. Restore
When recovering from hyperpigmentation, it comes down to: patience and being realistic. Don't expect impossible things from skincare products that focus on this. You will of course see a difference after applying it for at least three months, but you will not get rid of all the spots. The ideal ingredients to get started with are vitamin C and niacinamide.
4. Camouflage
What always works for pigment spots is to camouflage them in a subtle way. For this you choose a concealer in your own skin tone that you can also use without foundation. That way you don't have to go out 'full glam' every day but you can still cover up if you want to.
