Maayke was inspired by Lake Maihue, or Maiwe in its original spelling. This lake in southern Chile is a blue oasis surrounded by ancient forests, native plants and volcanoes. The precious rose hips are harvested from wild roses that thrive in this untamed natural environment.
Female entrepreneurship is the core of what moves Maayke. The wild rose hips are hand-picked by local women and a fair portion of its oil is produced in small batches by a woman-led company in southern Chile. By involving the women of Lake Maiwe in the entire production process, financial security is provided all year round and not just during the harvest season. Part of the profit is used for sustainable development projects in the area.
Despite its distant origins, the core of Maiwe is located in Antwerp, where Maayke closely monitors the quality of its products. For this they only use essential, raw ingredients such as natural oils and validated, natural, active substances. You will never find fragrances or other inflammatory ingredients with them. Maiwe's minimalist skincare routine fully protects and nourishes your skin with just a few essential, powerful ingredients courtesy of all the added vitamins .

After living in Chile for five years, this talented bioengineer returned to Belgium with her two-year-old daughter and an inspired plan. Her ultimate dream is to return to spend some time on her Chilean farm in the near future, to establish a rosehip women's cooperative where the harvest and conscientious production of the high-quality oil can be combined under the wings of Maiwe. How clean can it be?!
